The Story

Mahfood Market has become a real part of the Prospect Heights community, a place where you can find everyday essentials alongside international ingredients you'd normally have to travel across the city for. Since November 2025, we've worked to bring the neighborhood something it was missing: a market that carries a little bit of everything, from fresh produce and specialty imports to flowers and fresh juices, all in one stop.

Customers keep telling us what makes Mahfood different, they can find things here they can't find anywhere else nearby, and they're greeted by a team that actually knows them. That's exactly what owner Joel set out to build.

Mahfood Market isn't just a grocery store, it's grocery, fresh produce, a Fresh Juice Bar, a florist, and specialty imports from the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and beyond, all in one small-format neighborhood space. That combination means you can handle a handful of errands in a single stop instead of running all over the city.

What Makes Us Different

Mahfood Market is proud to be a Black-owned neighborhood business, serving Prospect Heights and the surrounding Brooklyn community. Owner Joel also runs Natty Garden and Natty Pet Shop, two more neighborhood spots built on the same idea, real, local businesses that actually know their customers. We're not a chain, we're your neighbors, and we want Mahfood to feel like it.
